Jada’s New BFF

Jada has found a new BFF since Pong^2 is a grumpy old biatcch. Her name is Chloe:

(btw, her ears are pulled back on this one but THEY ARE HUGE. SIZE OF FACE!)

This is all they do everytime they see each other:

(Notice the stationary Pong. She was waiting for crumbs)

Their favorite pasttime seems to biting each other’s face off and running around like peas in a pod. If peas can run that is. It’ll be nice for Jada to have a puppy to play with. However, with 3 female dogs now in the house.. who knows what’ll happen!

Quick Jada Update

Jada is getting better with potty training. Sort of. We have incorporated treats into peeing/pooping outside and it’s funny to watch her WATCH YOU while she pees, knowing that you have food.

When she poops, she has to poop twice. The first poop is usually solid while the second part is soft-serve. Other than that, she’s been pretty good. JUST KIDDING. She’s the devil. Don’t let that cute face fool you.

Her and Pong are play fighting even more and makes a much louder sound. I should record it and let you guys see if it’s bad or not. Maybe next time.

Hi again.

I haven’t updated in awhile.  Jada’s been doing really well.  I switched her off her nutrox food and have been feeding her Wellness.  I made a few mistakes by switching her off in a snap instead of slowly mixing the two into just wellness.  Although I like wellness brand, I hear they are going more commercial with their ingredients and I most likely will switch to canidae or something else at that point.

She’s gotten her second set of boosters along with her first lymes and distemper.  I’m excited to be done with her shots and soon after her 3rd I’ll wait 2 months or so before having her spade.

More Jada & Pong in a tree!

I didn’t crate Jada last night. Well, let me start from the beginning. I fell asleep. I woke up around 3AM and looked at the wee wee pad and found massive pee in it. I was happy because I’ve never taught Jada to use the wee wee pads but recently she’s been pee’ing on them quite frequently. Thus, I decided NOT to crate her that night so I could see if she’ll pee on the pad without having to wake up every few hours to take her out. SUCCESS!*

*- she missed the wee wee pad at around 7am by an inch but.. success?

Pong and Jada sitting in a tree…. f i g h t i n g

They love and absolutely hate each other. When they aren’t playing like Shiba’s, they are fighting over bits of kibbles, toys, and dominance. My little girl is one hell of an aggressor. Pong’s been a good girl and not biting but she sure shows her teeth when Jada gets out of line.

[singlepic id=18 w=400 float=center]

I hope they get along without fighting in the future. Although, it’s kind of entertaining seeing Pong show Jada who’s boss cause my little girl is such a monster =P

Crating Jada

And than I realized I had a Shiba…

She’s been steadily getting more and more comfortable with Jenny and I. It’s crazy how it’s only been just about a week with my new puppy but it feels like an eternity. I really don’t sleep 8 hours straight anymore but surprisingly I’m never all that tired from waking every 2-3 hours to let her pee/poo.

[singlepic id=13 w=400 float=center]

In fact, I kind of enjoy knowing that she’s learning everytime that she wants to pee that she waits for me to pick her up and take her outside. She gives me this “look” like “uh dad, out… now.”

I’m glad her poop is better and since the Vet hasn’t called me about her stool sample I’m assuming it’s okay. We’re still feeding her chicken and rice. I want to start buying organic puppy food for her but I want to go through the stuff we have now.

[singlepic id=20 w=400 float=center]

Her behavior towards Nizmo, a shitzu at our apartment, was very aggressive. She literally torpedoed into Nizmo and than proceeded to play(?) by barking and egging Nizmo to chase her. I hope this aggression doesn’t turn into something else later on.

Another issue I’ve been thinking about is crating. I don’t want to crate her at night. I don’t have a problem with her on the bed and pee’ing. I keep reading that it’s better for her in the long run to learn that the crate is her “den” and that it’ll help “housebreak” her faster.

[singlepic id=21 w=400 float=center]

I just hope I wont live to regret this decision later. I’m hoping that her “shiba’ness” will house break her from wanting to pee in the house. Amazingly, I’ve never caught her poo’ing anywhere but outside.. (doesn’t mean she hasn’t done it and just eaten it).

B-Day (Not birthday… BATH DAY!)

Jenny and I decided that the puppy smell was unbearable and we had to do something about it. I read briefly somewhere that a pup between 5-6lbs is okay to bathe. Thus, at 5.8lbs, we gave her the inaugural bath.

[singlepic id=8 w=400 float=center]

After the bath came the cleaning and than drying. She went straight to my laundry bag and slept in it out of anger.

[singlepic id=12 w=400 float=center]

[singlepic id=11 w=400 float=center]

I forgot if I mentioned before that she had been introduced to Pong Pong. And already Pong had taught her a valuable lesson in trying to steal food from Jenny and I…

[singlepic id=9 w=400 float=center]

And finally, I know that playing tug -o- war with your puppy is fun but playing with a stubborn shiba cannot be described unless shown with a picture.

Dog Insurance

After witnessing my best friend go through an absolute terror with his french bulldog, I have been contemplating as “daddy” to buy my “daughter” some pet insurance.

After reviewing at http://www.petinsurancereview.com/, I was leaning towards ASPCA insurance. I read most of the reviews that were complaints about “re-existing injury/diseases” but I was thinking about just using them for 1 year just in case Jada has any “puppy mill” issues.

Pete told me not to get it in the end. My cousin Sue and Joy are both suggesting that I do. Sue also went through quite an ordeal with Brownie (she has a chronic seizure problem).

I’m going to think about it a little more before I make my final decision regarding insurance.

Computer Nerd

As you can tell, Jada is a complete nerd:

Jada on the Computer

Or maybe she’s just self-absorbed.

She went to see the v-e-t today and got all her initial shots for puppies. Then she went to visit Crazy Uncle Loki and Always Hungry Pong Pong where she had tons of fun playing and hiding.

For dinner (breakfast and lunch), Jada had yummy brocceli, carrots, chicken, and chicken rice:

But.. all she ate was the chicken. What a true shiba.

Now she’s all curled up and asleep, waiting for her daddy to come home.
